Why

MISSION: Equipping the leaders of the future church

Accomplishing our mission involves a three-fold focus:

Upward. Our priority is to seek God for a greater measure of His presence.

Outward. We reach out to the campus at large through Christian students and their friends, and connect with alums who are reaching the world in their vocational roles.

Inward. We build into the lives of students by helping them grow in their leadership abilities, spiritual giftings and natural aptitudes.

VISION: Spirit ignites truth

What does that mean? We long to see the Living God come with power on campus (Zech. 4:6). This will happen as we

  • "Relentlessly pursue knowing the Lord" (Hosea 6:3)
  • Diligently launch prayer "furnaces" on campus
  • Boldly share the good news (power evangelism), and
  • Skillfully build up the Body of Christ on campus

The foundation for this is cultivating spiritual eyes so that we can become a living demonstration of what Carleton’s seal still proclaims: “the opening of Your Word gives light.” (Ps. 119:130)

VALUES:

Passion for Jesus: Intimacy with God from being in His presence (Luke 10: 38-42)
Spirit-empowered lifestyle: Hearing God and experiencing His power (Zech. 4:6)
Primacy of Scripture: God’s truth sets us free (2 Tim. 3:16-17)
Kingdom mindset: Working together with like-minded believers (John 17:20-23)
Relationships: People are the program (1 John 4:19)
Urgency of the hour: Living with the end in mind (Heb. 10:25)
Servant-leadership: It’s all about God and people (Mark 10:45)
Team ministry: Things go better when we work together (Acts 20:1-6)

BELIEFS:

We believe in/that:

  • The verbal, plenary inspiration of the Bible. (Mt. 5:18, 2 Tim. 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20-21)
  • One God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Deut. 6:4, Mt. 28:19)
  • The deity of our Lord Jesus Christ; in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, vicarious and atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension, and personal return in power and glory. (John 1:1, 20:28; Luke 1:35; Heb. 4:15; 1 Peter 3:18; Acts 2:32; Heb. 8:1; Mt. 24:30-31)
  • The salvation of lost and sinful people can only come by personal faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ. (Rom. 3:21-26)
  • The regenerating, sanctifying, and empowering work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer. (Titus 3:5, 2 Cor. 3:18, Acts 1:8)
  • The Church is made up of all believers worldwide, and manifests itself in local congregations. (Eph. 3:10, Acts 20:28)
  • The resurrection of both the saved and lost; believers to everlasting life, unbelievers to eternal conscious punishment. (Mt. 25:31-46)
